Get Involved in the National CAD Standard V7 Project Committee

The NIBS Building Information Management Council (BIMC) and the NCS V7 Steering Committee are calling upon all building professionals to participate in the update process of the United States National CAD Standard® (NCS) and looking to every sector of the industry to participate in the review and approval of amendments to update the standard. The NCS V7 Steering Committee will be submitting ballots to amend and revise current NCS content reorganizing the standard and addressing current technologies, processes and practices.

The Council welcomes the participation of all sectors of the building industry. To get involved in the NCS review and approval process, individuals and organizations need to take the following steps:

  1. Join the National CAD Standard Project Committee (NCS PC). If you own* a copy of the current version of the NCS, fill out the National CAD Standard Project Committee Application Form and submit. A staff member will review your application and send you a welcome letter.
  2. Log on to the NIBS Engage Community Portal. In your Welcome letter, you will receive instructions on how to access the NIBS Engage Community Portal. The NCS V7 ballot review, comment and voting will be conducted from the Workspace consensus tool in Engage.

You may also be interested in joining NIBS. As a member of NIBS, you will become eligible to participate in councils, including the BIM Council and participate in the National BIM Standard-United States V4 (NBIMS-US) consensus process. When joining, select your preferred membership or sponsorship level and create an account.
